David Letterman's Letter to US

David Letterman Pictures, Images and Photos

David Letterman wrote this; it's the David we don't often see....

" As most of you know I am not a fan of President Bush, nor have I ever been, but this is not about Bush, it is about us, as Americans, and it it is about us, as Americans, and it seems to hit the mark.' The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some Poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right? The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americansare unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the President.
In essence 2/3 of the citizenry just aint happy and want a change. So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, 'What are we so unhappy about?''

A. Is it that we have electricity and runningwater 24 hours a day, 7 Days a week?

B. Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter?
C. Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job?

D. Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at anytime and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?

E. Maybe it is the ability to drive our cars and trucks from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state?

F. Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter?

G. I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough either.

H. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.

I. Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home.

J. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use topnotch equipment to extinguish the flames, thus saving you, your family, and your belongings.

K. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or a prowler intrudes, and an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss.

L. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90% of teenagers own cell phones and computers.

M. How about the complete religious, social and political freedomswe enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world?

Maybe that iswhat has 67% of you folks so unhappy. Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S., yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in theworld who do nothing but complain about what we don't have, and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here. I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name inthe book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorists attacks? The Commander-in-Chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me?
Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or on a talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad? Think about it......are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the 'Media' the 'Media' told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behinds every day. Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go. They are able to refuse to go, then end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an "other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable" discharge after a few days in the brig. So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percentof Americans? Say what you want, but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news. everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by 'justifying' them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a murder like O.J. Simpson to write a book about how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way....Insane!
Turn off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your birdcage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a country. There is exponentially more good than bad. We are among the most blessed people on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative.'"With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"

David Letterman
I don't know if David Letterman really wrote this but I think it says a lot of truth. We are ungrateful brats that just want more and never see what we truly have. I think it's high time that we get flat on our faces every day many times a day and thank God for what we have, and in turn ask Him for guidance and not rely on the media to tell us 'what they want us to know and how they want us to think' Bravo Mr. Letterman, I wish more public figures would have the courage to stand up.

Working with my hands

This is my 1st time ever trying to crochet anything that had 3-d shape to it. They were not too bad, once I figured out how to count the rounds. I made this for a family friend at church that adopted a son from Russia. At first the only thing he was interested in was 'dogs' so this was the only thing to make him! He loves it!

This is my first shell blanket. It's called Ocean Waves. I made it for a very special baby, his parents were married on a beach so I had to make this one! I love the colors they are so calming. It was quite easy except for changing the colors every row and all of the tucking at the end.

I made these over the summer while Brent was TDY
All of these patterns can be found at joann.com under projects.

The Name Game a Weighty Issue

Since we have found out the sex of the baby we have had a boys name for quite some time now...but never had a girls, well kinda, but I decided that I wasn't inlove with the name, the nickname but not the name. And every time I tried to talk to Brent about a girl's name he would divert the conversation....I guess he knew...

But we are naming #3 Anthony Paul

Anthony is after my mother's father his name was Antonio (But on a side note I can't name a 'white' baby an ethnic name.) Not that I don't like that name it's very strong and masculine but my kids are WHITE! I can't do it! But we will call him Tony for short. And that's how I remember my grandfather, I called him Grandpa Tony.

Paul is after Brent's father and grandfather. There is a whole 'jr/sr' thing going on there but it's not this generation to name that it should have been Brent's name so it wouldn't be approiate to skip the generation. Plus, Brent's Aunt Kathy took the namesake so.....there you go.

We were going to go with Edward as the middle name but Anthony Edward...I kept thinking of the actor on ER that died years ago...then after reading the Twilight series (EVERY ONE SHOULD) the main characters name is Edward Anthony....I can't do that. Really... And after finally watching Iron Man I wanted to know more about Tony Stark, and googled it....well Tony Stark is infact named Anthony Edward....so that was the last nail in the coffin for that name.

On a lighter note...pun intended...I'm now nearly the start weight I was when I got pregnant with Philip! Pregnancy has been the best weight loss plan for me so far! That 5 pounds I couldn't get rid of after Michael and the 5 pounds I kept after I lost 'Cube' are now a thing of the past. I'm 3 pounds away from being the original start weight for both boys. Which is interesting because I started at the end weight for both of them with this pregnancy. I was worried about gaining more than I was really, and wondered how it would affect my body. Thankfully I haven't suffered from any ailments due to my weight. My asthma has flared up for the first time in over 5 years! I'm back on an inhaled steriod and Singulair, but the risks out weigh the outcome i.e. not breathing. The doctors are not worried about the baby so that's fine with me. It has been kinda crummy the way I lost the weight I would not recommend throwing up everything you eat, or try to eat.... But other than that things are going well and we can't wait to meet Little Tony~!

Navy Day Ball

We went to the Navy Ball this year! It was lots of fun, the Navy knows how to throw a party! Thankfully, my smarter than me sister, Mia, picked out a great bridemaids dress that I have gotten to wear 3 times now while I'm pregnant.
It was at the Marriot over by BWI this year instead of a country club. It was nicer I think. Dinner was served quickly and was good. The speaker didn't talk for too long. The DJ was a sailor and was really good, he played mostly songs that got you on the dance floor. The first one being the Macarena....I felt soooo old when I was talking with a young airman who was at our table, he was 7 when that song was popular in the summer of 1996!!! ARRRGH!! But of course there were a few slow songs that I didn't make Brent dance to, they were the worst slow songs you could have picked, I did give the DJ a hard time about those choices. Brent promised to mosh if they played 'Smells like Teen Spirit' but they ran out of time. It was a really good time, I didn't have my group of girls to dance with I had to dance with an intoxicated Capt and an airman that was 7 in 1996, but they were funny, especially during the hair band tribute. Brent did dance a little but thought it would be best to document the silliness in pictures. I'll spare you those pictures.

Update on the claim

It went faster than expected, the military is giving us all but $200 of what we claimed due to the decline of value of some of the things ex-book case, bakers rack. But we will get the full value for all of the Lladro that was stolen with appreciation since half have been retired. Which I'm happy for. We expect to see the money by next week some time. I have to say bravo for the turn around of the claim.

Reclaiming our things...

When we opened our door to the men who would carefully pack and box our things 2 years ago we never thought for a moment that they would rob us blind! But that's what you get for thinking! Last night we had to finish our claim on our things that were damaged, missing or stolen. I had to go online and get the prices/value for everything, most of my pieces had been retired. Brent has bought me Lladro for special occasions over the years, mostly anniversaries and the birth of our 1st born. I have loved Lladro since I was a little girl, I remember sitting in the 'off limits' room at grandmas looking at her beautiful statues. My favorite was of a young girl getting harrassed by a puppy. The soft creamy and muted colors were just beautiful. I was more than overjoyed when Brent bought my 1st piece for me! The most special would be the 2 doves called "Love Nest" that I remember seeing in the jewlery shop when Brent and I 1st started dating, I would have loved to have had it for a wedding cake topper but it was expensive....years later we found it in the BX in England. I was so excited to have found it again that Brent bought it for me right then!! This leads me to the picture posted...when making a claim you have to have picture proof of that you 'owned' it, this one is of my swans. But the "Love Nest" was never displayed...we bought it in July of 2006 and we packed out August 2006, I just left it in it's box to come out at our new house. And with that I have no picture....we have pictures of all of the other ones but that...Brent thinks that they may give us a hard time about it...but all I can say is we were robbed! No no one broke into our house but they packed a box with very special things and replaced it with an empty box! I think it's horrible that we are the ones that have to 'prove' something when we were the one's who did no wrong!

I'll keep this posted to how things turn out, hopefully I'll get to have my pieces back...

It's a BOY!

We had our ultrasound yesterday! The boys were there, they loved seeing the baby. I saw that it was a boy before the tech did...we are both very excited! He's a happy healthy boy!

It's a BOY!

Little Foot

The alien baby face

The 3-D shot!

He sees you!
